What do I need for a Home Emergency Survival Kit?

Every home should have a Home Emergency Survival Kit made, stored and checked regularly. Your Home Emergency Survival Kit should be located in an area easy to access, and should have the following items in it, at a minimum. See below for a more detailed list of additional items that are useful to have on hand.
Minimum Items needed:
(3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for shelter at home)
Water: one gallon per person, per day
Food: canned and dry goods should be checked monthly for expiration. Do not add in perishable items.
Cell phone with extra chargers
Flashlights with Extra batteries. One per person.
Extra Cash
Medications (7-day supply) and any medical items needed
Box of tools or Multi-purpose tool
Sanitation and personal hygiene items
Copies of personal documents (medication list and pertinent medical information, proof of address, deed/lease to home, passports, birth certificates, insurance policies)

First Aid Kit
Battery-powered or hand-crank radio (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)
Blankets. One per person.
